The Valley

Pin It The Valley of a Thousand Hills, some 30 kilometers outside Durban is just that; a large area of hills and valleys and winding roads. It's a predominantly poor rural area, a rapidly growing settlement of people on the edge of the City...and where unemployment is in the order of 40 percent. In the centre is the vast Inanda Dam, a potential recreational area.

This image needs to be seen large to really comprehend the detail and variety of the settlements in the valley. Late last year a 12 foot wide image of this was on an exhibition at the Durban Art Museum; I'm not sure if this is an image for small scale viewing. If you click on it, you can see a slightly larger version, though.
